A few minutes remain until my flight was to board and then partake in a three hour festival of igniting a mixture of dead plants and animals in a rapidly revolving set of contraptions to create enough force to result in the awesome feat of flight. I had to relieve myself.

    From experience I have found that simulations are no substitute for the real thing, and the last article got me in the mood to break some more stuff, so I wanted to explore failures a little more. Previously I used the mdadm --set-faulty command to demonstrate how a failed device is handled by a RAID 5 array. Here the devices are hot removed ungracefully from the machine to see how it handles the treatment.
